Sometimes I get relationship imposter syndrome. Acting like we got it aaaalllll figured out.
But then I remember we are human. And nobody has it all figured out. And y’all know that, right??

The church taught me that marriage is eternal and that we must “choose your love and love your choice.” But what happens when you realize continuing to “choose your love” means you have to NOT choose yourself?

It takes more than love and a history together to allow a relationship to truly flourish. It takes commitment to the work of learning what it means for us to stop self betrayal and start honoring our truest selves. It takes two people who are truly choosing themselves.

One of my favorite songs that makes me cry now that I’m with Lena is @sarabareilles “I choose you.” May we all choose ourselves!
